Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Paro

  • Arrival at Paro International Airport.
  • Welcome by our representative and transfer to your hotel.
  • Check-in and rest after your journey.
  • Briefing session about the trekking expedition.
  • Dinner at a local restaurant.
  • Overnight stay in Paro.

Day 2: Paro – Shana (Start of Trek)

  • After breakfast, drive to the starting point of the trek near the Ta Dzong (National Museum).
  • Begin the trek to Shana, ascending through lush forests and crossing several streams.
  • Camp overnight at Shana.

Day 3: Shana – Soi Thangthangkha

  • Trek through the Paro Chhu Valley, passing by small settlements and pristine forests.
  • Enjoy views of Mount Jomolhari on clear days.
  • Camp overnight at Soi Thangthangkha.

Day 4: Soi Thangthangkha – Jangothang

  • Continue trekking towards Jangothang, following the Paro Chhu river.
  • Pass through yak herder camps and alpine meadows.
  • Arrive at Jangothang and set up camp.
  • Explore the surroundings and enjoy the views of Mount Jomolhari.
  • Camp overnight at Jangothang.

Day 5: Jangothang (Acclimatization Day)

  • Rest and acclimatize at Jangothang.
  • Optional day hike to Tshophu Lake or other nearby viewpoints.
  • Camp overnight at Jangothang.

Day 6: Jangothang – Lingshi

  • Trek over the Nyele La Pass (4,890 meters), offering stunning views of the Himalayas.
  • Descend into the Lingshi Valley and pass by Lingshi Dzong.
  • Camp overnight at Lingshi.

Day 7: Lingshi – Shodu

  • Trek towards Shodu, descending through rhododendron forests and alpine meadows.
  • Pass by the villages of Goyul and Zongto.
  • Camp overnight at Shodu.

Day 8: Shodu – Barshong

  • Continue trekking towards Barshong, following the Thimphu Chhu river.
  • Pass through dense forests and rhododendron groves.
  • Camp overnight at Barshong.

Day 9: Barshong – Dolam Kencho

  • Trek to Dolam Kencho, the end point of the trek.
  • Transfer to Thimphu by vehicle.
  • Farewell dinner in Thimphu.
  • Overnight stay in Thimphu.

Day 10: Departure

  • Transfer to Paro International Airport for your onward journey.
  • End of the Jomolhari Trek adventure.
